Alternative pop rockers Mother Mother share a new single, with music video, titled “The Matrix”, this Friday (3), via Warner Records, with national distribution from Warner Music Brasil. Listen HERE and watch HERE. The track announces the arrival of the band’s long-awaited album, “Grief Chapter”, scheduled for release in February 2024.
In “Grief Chapter”, vocalist, composer and guitarist Ryan Guldemond takes a big leap in his compositions, bringing concepts such as life, death, mourning and freedom, which come with accepting the inevitable, seemingly heavy themes that, magically, are driven by lyrical moments of complexity and lightness throughout the album’s 12 tracks. As Guldemond explains, “death and pain took root in these songs, but not in a dark way. The themes are used more as a reference point on how to live more fully and presently. Life is fleeting, therefore, it is precious, and death is the most effective way I know to frame this miracle of living.”
New single “The Matrix” features dreamy tones and blissful vocals that give the illusion of a futuristic lullaby. It continues what has become the group’s tradition of captivating content, following recent singles “To My Heart” and fan favorite “Normalize,” which was Mother Mother’s first release since the universally known album, “INSIDE.” . “Normalize” arrived with an intense audiovisual, directed by horror director Colin Minihan (Grave Encounters, What Keeps You Alive). Soon after, the band released an alternative fan video for the track that brings together clips from the group’s global fan community.
From February next year, the band will tour Europe, including a headlining appearance at the prestigious Wembley Arena in London. The schedule follows the band’s recent triumphant festival appearances in front of tens of thousands of fans, with stops at some of the world’s most influential events; Reading and Leeds; Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina and Brazil; Corona Capital, in Mexico; Pukkelpop, in Belgium; Frequency Festival, in Austria; and Lowlands, in the Netherlands.
The list of European dates includes stops in the UK, Ireland, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany and more. The band will perform to some of the biggest European audiences of their career during the eight-week tour.
Comprised of Ryan Guldemond (vocals, guitar), Molly Guldemond (vocals, keyboards), Jasmin Parkin (vocals, keyboards), Ali Siadat (drums) and Mike Young (bass), Mother Mother has seen remarkable growth over the past three years, with huge worldwide success since 2021.
