Santa Maria City Hall, through the Department of Sport and Leisure, together with the Santamariense Futsal League, held, on Thursday night (26), at the Municipal Sports Center (CDM), the final matches of the adult categories of the Championship Municipal Futsal. The event started at 7pm and featured two matches, one for men and one for women.
The night’s decisions were followed by an audience of more than 200 people, who were present in the traditional gymnasium in Bairro Fátima. The event was charitable and collected non-perishable food and food for dogs and cats. The Department of Sports and Leisure was responsible for the awards (trophies and medals) and the structure of the event, which included food trucks, sound systems, LED panels and an ambulance.
“The Municipal Games were a great success, marked by balanced matches and a sporting environment of mutual respect. The partnership between SMEL and the Liga Santamariense de Futsal provided a high quality structure, with lighting, sound, security and amenities for spectators. This event highlighted the importance of sportsmanship and integrity, serving as an example for our local sports community”, considers the Deputy Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Tiago Lima.

The 2023 Municipal Futsal Championship started on August 7th. In the qualifiers, there were nine rounds with four matches each. Afterwards, the semifinals, 3rd place disputes and the finals took place. The tournament is organized by the City of Santa Maria and the Liga Santamariense de Futsal and was funded by the Sports Support and Promotion Program, with funds from parliamentary amendments and own resources from the Department of Sports and Leisure.
