A baby just three months old died after eating a pasty mixture this Monday morning (23/10), in Varzelândia, in the North of Minas.
According to the police report that the newspaper Estado de Minas had access to, the victim ingested a pasty mixture of cornmeal, milk, salt and sugar. The food was given by the parents.
About 20 minutes after eating, the child began to feel sick. Her parents noticed that she was having difficulty breathing and immediately took her to the hospital.
Doctors used techniques to try to improve the baby’s breathing, but they were unable to do so. The girl died at the scene. According to the police report, the death is suspected to have been caused by poor diet.
Parents said baby was used to eating the mixture
In the conversation with the military police, the baby’s parents said that, since she turned two months old, the girl had been eating a mixture of cornmeal, milk, sugar and salt, and that she had never felt sick.
Because it was suspected of poor nutrition, the parents were not arrested. However, the case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
