Measure made possible by the recognition of the Emergency Situation in Pelotas, due to the damage caused by the July cyclone (Decree 6,753/2023), the release of consultation with the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) will be available from Wednesday ( 25). Anyone who is entitled will be able to withdraw the amount. According to the Municipal Civil Defense, 96 addresses that recorded losses from the weather event were registered with Caixa. For those affected by the September floods, the benefit is in the registration phase and the consultation should be available in around two weeks.
As explained by the Secretary of Social Assistance, Tiago Bündchen, there may be situations where some people try to access the resource through the application and are unable to do so because the address does not appear. These are cases of residents who were not served by SAS, but who had some damage to their property, had it repaired and want access to resources to cover the cost. The guidance is that, in these cases, the worker, who is entitled to the FGTS, goes to the Municipal Department of Housing and Land Regularization (SHRF) to express interest, registering that he has been affected and that he wants to register to receive it. The Housing Department is located at Rua General Osório, 457, between Ruas Dom Pedro and General Telles.
The query can be made through the Caixa app and anyone who does not have an electronic device must look for the information at a bank branch.
Hit by September floods
According to the Secretariat of Social Assistance (SAS), the recognition by the Union of Decree 6,784/2023 of Emergency Situation due to September flooding in Pelotas will also allow the release of FGTS for other people. The process is in the process of surveying and registering all affected addresses in the Caixa system to release the query and the amount made available.
The release of the FGTS
Withdrawal from the Guarantee Fund for length of service, due to personal needs resulting from natural disasters, was established by Law 10,878/2004. It is intended for workers who have a balance in a linked FGTS account, who had their residence damaged by the weather event considered a disaster, with an Emergency Situation recognized by the Federal Government and who have not withdrawn from the Fund for this reason. The amount released in this situation is up to R$6,220.00, which is the ceiling for the case.
