(T)IS
The concert proposes a musical crossover based on anthropological and ethnomusical research carried out by him and the producer and historian Magali de Rossi in 2021, entitled “The Origin of Chamamé – A story to be told”.
(L) THIS is a Chamamé concert, in which the rhythm dialogues with its ancestral matrix, with its primary origin, the result of the encounter generated in the 30 missionary peoples between the musicality and rituality of the Guaranis with the Baroque music taught by the Jesuit Fathers, cultural paradigm that over time, and under the force of collective memory, provided the initial conditions for the creation of the Chamamé rhythm.
The show contains Brittes’ original repertoire, with arrangements and readaptation for a Baroque Chamber orchestra, signed by Fernando Cordella. It also has two baroque sonatas composed by the Jesuit Father Domenico Zipolli (1688 -1726).
Baroque and Guarani scenery
The scenario created by set designers Rafael Oliveira and Nara Lúcia Maia was created based on research into the origins of Chamamé, where classic Baroque and Guarani meet. Baroque frame, made by artists from Parintins Paulo and Cristiano Oliveira, brings the refinement of the baroque and the weaves of Guarani art, made by Ana Ferreira from the Tekoa Koenn’ju village of São Miguel das Missões bring simplicity. Thus, the scenario is a crossover of two styles that in music gave rise to Chamamé.
Shows no interior do RS
In the months of November and December, Brittes will perform two more concerts in Rio Grande do Sul. On 11/11, in São Borja; and on 3/12 in front of the Ruins of São Miguel, in São Miguel das Missões.
