A 44-year-old photographer, resident of Cosmópolis (SP), died this Friday (13) after entering a private clinic in the city to undergo an aesthetic procedure. According to the family, Roberta Correa looked for the space on Monday (9) to undergo an endolaser, a technique that uses a laser to remove localized fat and reduce sagging.
She reportedly felt unwell immediately after the anesthesia was administered, but relatives say the procedure continued until she suffered a seizure. Roberta was taken to the city’s Santa Casa, where she was confirmed dead. The family chose to donate organs and the wake is scheduled to take place on Monday (16).
Biomedical doctor Vanuza Aguilar Takata confirms that the patient felt ill right at the beginning of the anesthetic application, which would have been carried out by another duly qualified professional, but highlights that the procedure had not even started. She also says that “help was provided immediately and the professionals were available for all needs and inquiries”.
As for Spazio Di Bellezza Estevam, the property where the service took place, states that, as it has unoccupied rooms, it was rented to other beauty professionals, including the clinic, and that each one is independently responsible for their service provision. He also informed that Health Surveillance attended the scene and took relevant measures in the treatment room.

Paola Eliza Lück de Paula is the victim’s cousin and told EPTV, a TV Globo affiliate, everything that happened after the anesthesia was applied. “She started to feel chills. As far as we know, the beautician said this was normal.”
“The procedure began, shortly afterwards Roberta began to feel, I believe, pain, convulsing, she asked to stop, not to hold her. There was no one holding her back, she stopped, passed out and had cardiac arrest”, reports the cousin.
The clinic is about 350 meters from Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Cosmópolis. The family says that the biomedical doctor took a long time to ask for the ransom. When she arrived at the unit, she was diagnosed with cardiac arrest and, days later, she was confirmed brain dead. She leaves two children and her husband.
“The professional didn’t know what to do. At the time, she was probably very desperate and had no immediate reaction, it took a while to provide help and bring her to the hospital with the vehicle. It caused a lack of oxygen in the brain, which is when she went to the ICU.”
“Unfortunately, we lost a life. A fantastic person, with many projects and dreams. We want to find out what happened so we don’t let Roberta’s light go out like this. Is not fair. We have to let her light shine.”
