On 11/02, thousands of Caxias residents will go to cemeteries on the date that refers to mourning, longing and, according to Catholic tradition, serves to pay tribute to the deceased. In order for All Souls’ Day to run smoothly, the Municipal Department of the Environment (Semma), responsible for the two public cemeteries in Caxias do Sul, defined that maintenance can be carried out until 10/22.
According to the person responsible for the Public Cemeteries teams, Rochele Pioner dos Reis, services can be carried out daily from 8am to 5pm, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The two-week period aims to provide the public with the cleaning and/or painting of tombs and tombs, allowing the spaces to be organized later by employees.
According to the head of Semma, João Uez, since last week, teams have been working on lighting repairs and tree pruning. “Our organization anticipates that the community can forward the necessary demands now so that on 11/02 everyone can pay their respects with peace of mind”, points out the secretary.
Public Cemetery I is located at Rua Júlio Augusto Ruzarin, 361, in the Marechal Floriano neighborhood; Public Cemetery II is located at Avenida Benjamin Custódio de Oliveira, 963, in the Rosário neighborhood.
Yesterday (09/10), the Municipal Department of Urban Planning (SMU) opened registration for those interested in selling flowers near Public Cemeteries on the All Souls’ Day holiday. Interested parties must present proof of residence in Caxias do Sul and identification document with photo. The fee is R$123.98.
