Get ready for the second edition of “São Leopoldo is Just Rap”, which will take place on October 8th, Sunday, from 1:30 pm. The event will be held in the pyramids next to the Celso Morbach Gymnasium, in the Center of São Leopoldo. This celebration of Hip Hop culture is an initiative of Coletivo Embolamento Cultural and the City of São Leopoldo, through the Municipal Secretariat of Culture and International Relations (Secult). Entry is free for everyone.
National and local artists come together to celebrate Hip Hop
Alexandre da Silva Meinen, also known as Aliado D, is the cultural producer responsible for organizing the event. He is a member of Coletivo Embolamento Cultural and has worked tirelessly to bring together an impressive list of guest artists from the national scene. Among them are Pateta Code 43, from Paraná; Tiry BFN, from Porto Alegre, Atividades S/A, from São Leopoldo, as well as graffiti on the dance floor, DJ sound and many other attractions.
Expanding the reach and visibility of Hip Hop
The event aims to give more visibility to local and regional artists, as well as expanding the reach of Hip Hop. “This event is extremely important for the city and the region. It is a great promotion for Hip Hop culture in the city, which has great reference in the Gaucho movement”, says Alexandre Meinen.
The Director of Culture, Jari da Rocha, highlights the importance of the event, mainly due to 50 years of Hip Hop. Secult has invested in and supported initiatives in this movement. “We believe in Hip Hop culture, the proof is the Book Fair, which had more than six presentations throughout the program”, he says. The “São Leopoldo é Só Rap” event precedes the Municipal Hip Hop Week, scheduled for October 9th to 13th.
