A doctor from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital Ipiranga, South Zone of São Paulo, was detained inside the hospital after being accused by military police of contempt, on Sunday night (1st).
Witnesses reported that a PM team went to the unit to find out about the health status of a retired police officer who was admitted to the ICU, and asked for the medical report. However, the doctor refused to provide the information because she was outside visiting hours.
At the police station, the health professional stated that she was handcuffed inside the hospital and placed in the vehicle.
“I was handcuffed and they put me in the police car. They took me out of the ICU and the patients were alone”, said the professional while she was in the 17th DP.
In the version reported by the police, according to the police report, the accusation of contempt occurred because the doctor threw a document in the face of a PM lieutenant. The reason for the confusion was not stated in the incident report.
According to the bulletin, an examination at the Legal Medical Institute was requested to confirm an injury to the officer’s arm that had been caused by the doctor.
After committing to appear before the Special Criminal Court (Jecrim) when summoned, the doctor was released.
