The ANS (National Supplementary Health Agency) announced this Thursday (28) the suspension of the sale of 38 health plans from ten operators. The measure comes into effect next Tuesday (3).
According to the agency, the decision was taken after receiving complaints about the assistance coverage of services in the second quarter.
The suspension is part of the Service Guarantee Monitoring, which monitors the sector’s performance on a quarterly basis. The action, says ANS, seeks to protect consumers.
The resumption of sales is subject to an improvement in monitoring results. The list of suspended plans can be seen on the ANS website and is available below.
“In total, 394,313 beneficiaries are protected by the measure, as these plans will only be able to be sold again to new customers if the operators show an improvement in monitoring results”, stated Alexandre Fioranelli, director of Standards and Product Qualification at the agency.
The complaints considered in the monitoring refer to failure to comply with the maximum deadlines for consultations, exams and surgeries or denial of assistance coverage. Based on these reports, operators are classified into bands, enabling a comparative analysis between them.
The ANS stated that it registered 58 thousand complaints in the period from April 1 to June 30, 2023. The body also released a list of plans whose sales may be resumed. In this monitoring cycle, 12 agreements from six operators will be released for sale again. The list of these plans is also available on the ANS website.
