Last Monday, the 25th, Mayor Luiz Zaffalon signed Executive Bill 60/2023, establishing the “School Material Card – CME”. The card is intended for the purchase of school materials for students in the municipal education network, with the main objective of promoting citizenship, education and promoting local commerce.
Benefits of the School Supplies Card
Zaffalon highlighted the practicality of the card for purchasing material. “Students will be able to choose, within the amount provided, the material they want”, he commented. He also stated that this action will benefit local businesses. “Before, we needed to bid on a company, which was often from outside the municipality, to manufacture the materials. With this, families will be able to buy materials in stores here in the city”, concluded Zaffa.
Project Support
Councilor Evandro Coruja, who was present at the signing, highlighted the importance of the law. “I can proudly say that I am the creator of this project. The idea came to our office through businesspeople in the stationery industry and we took it to the mayor, who was supportive and moved forward”, highlighted Coruja.
How the School Supplies Card Works
The card, intended exclusively for the direct purchase of school supplies, will function as a debit card and will be made available to each student, through their parents and/or legal guardians. The magnetic card must contain the student’s name, the CPF number of their legal guardian and the Inep code.
The purchase of school materials can be made at any commercial establishment selling stationery and school supplies, based and registered in the municipality, with prior accreditation under the terms set out in the Decree.
Instructions for purchasing materials will be announced later, in partnership with municipal schools. Those responsible must wait.
Also present at the event were secretaries João Maria (SMDET), Gustavo Calheiro (Smat) and secretary Aurelise Braun (Smed), as well as representatives from local commerce.
