At the beginning of Pink October, the Association to Support People with Cancer (Aapecan Caxias do Sul) is promoting a photographic exhibition on the third floor of Prataviera Shopping starting next Monday (2). The exhibition titled Decididas 2023 is open to the community and can be seen until October 6th, during the mall’s opening hours, from 9am to 8pm.
The opening takes place on Monday, October 2nd, at 5pm, and will feature a conversation given by the breast specialist at Hospital Pompéia, Dr. Sabrina Lima. During the ceremony there will also be a performance by the Aapecan Choir and the delivery of informative materials about disease awareness.
Decided 2023
The photographs portray women affected by breast cancer, who have already beaten the disease and those who are still undergoing treatment. This year, as a warning, there is also a patient with cervical cancer in the exhibition. In total, there are 9 participants in the project (check the list below).
The result of the photo session, which took place in August, is a surprise for the participants until the opening day. For the production and printing of the photos, Aapecan had support from the companies VGP, Go Image, Gleice Frizzo Beauty, Fran Corrales Fotografia and Doce Amélie Café.

Aapekan
The Association to Support People with Cancer (Aapekan) is a Civil Society Organization (CSO) that does not aim for profit and provides free services to people diagnosed with cancer in situations of social and personal vulnerability. It currently has 15 service units and 11 Support Houses in Rio Grande do Sul. It was founded in Caxias do Sul in March 2005 and in January 2011 it opened the first Support House.
