Another Vale do Sinos Choir Festival is coming. The 56th edition of the traditional event in the city of Novo Hamburgo will bring together, this year, 21 choirs from the Vale do Rio dos Sinos region and a choir from São Paulo, in 4 days of performances, which will start at 8pm at the Teatro Municipal Paschoal Carlos Magno ( R. Eng. Ignácio Christiano Plangg, 66, in the Center).
In addition to choral singing groups from Hamburg, choirs from São Leopoldo, Portão, Estância Velha, Dois Irmãos, Nova Petrópolis, as well as Unasp from São Paulo, will come, performing more than 70 national and international songs.
In August 2013, Municipal Law No. 2,585 was approved, officially granting the Canto Coral’s listing as an intangible asset of the city of Novo Hamburgo. The event is organized by the Secretariat of Culture and the Choir Association of Novo Hamburgo (Ascor NH).
The secretary of culture, Ralfe Cardoso, reinforces the significance of the Festival. “The Choir Festival represents the maintenance of one of the main Germanic heritages in the region, as choral singing was established as a way of celebrating life and strengthening community ties.”
The 56th Vale do Sinos Choir Festival is a free event.
