Young Gabrielle Barbosa, 20, who had her hands and feet amputated in March after being admitted with a urinary infection, left the clinic where she is rehabilitating this Saturday (16) to practice outside.
“I am very happy for this achievement, this victory. After a lot of training and effort, I am leaving the clinic for the first time with my legs to continue practicing over the weekend,” he said. “My rehabilitation is going very quickly,” he said.
The moment was shared by the young woman on her social networks. On Tuesday (12), Gabrielle had already announced that she was able to stand thanks to the help of prosthetics. “After practically five months of amputation, I took my first steps”, she celebrated.
Remember the case
The young woman had had a urinary tract infection since December last year. She went to the hospital and treated the illness with antibiotics. In January of this year, she underwent periodic examinations and was informed that she was fine. However, in March, she discovered a widespread infection.
Now, with the prosthesis, Gabrielle hopes that her quality of life will improve, despite the limitations. “At the beginning of this process, when I thought it would be impossible to walk again, God placed Dr. Gualter’s team, who worked hard to get me back on my feet. Thank you all,” he added.
