The show O Reino Infante premieres in two performances at Teatro Bruno Kiefer, at Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, in Porto Alegre, on September 23rd and 24th, at 8pm, with free entry and translated into LIBRAS. The assembly of the ATritO Theater Group is carried out with resources from Pró-Cultura RS FAC.
Created in 2019 as a result of the workshop for teenagers at Cômica Cultural, a Porto Alegre producer, the production presents the drama of the queen who decrees permanent childhood for her subjects.
Queen Infanta is going through problems and clings to absurd ideas – such as believing that she can induce everyone to a childhood without responsibilities. Amidst the confused people and the leader who does not understand her responsibilities, a villain with a thirst for power emerges: Perversa, who hatches a plan to take the Infanta crown and subject the community to extreme authoritarianism. In this context, a troupe of clowns arrives in the city, presenting new perspectives for it and for the population.
Using the language of Commedia Dell’Arte, the play is a provocation-invitation to play as an alternative to seriousness as an instrument of perception of the world.
With original dramaturgy by Fernanda Moreno, the production rescues forms, floors, behaviors and representations that date back to the 16th and 17th centuries, establishing a dialogue between popular theater that emerged at the end of the Middle Ages and contemporary theater, touching on concerns that have crossed subjects since a long time.
Reino Infante presents bodywork based on clowning, with circus elements. The soundtrack is performed live, with part of the cast playing instruments and singing original songs, composed especially for the show.
Infante’s court is made up of a multifunctional setting. The fun and colorful costumes were made exclusively for the project.
Aimed at teenagers, the play received the Feminine Writings on Stage – Dramaturgies award, promoted by the Municipal Department of Culture and Leisure of Rio Grande.
