Mariana Heller Bochardt and Fernanda Radmann Scaglioni are queen and princess of the 10th Fortnight of Peach in Pelotas, chosen over the weekend, during the annual festival of the São Mateus Community, Colônia São Manoel, 8th district, Rincão da Cruz.
From now on, the sovereigns will promote the municipality’s main culture, in events in the region and visits, with the aim of further popularizing the fruit and attracting the public to the Fortnight events, whose program includes the Fair and the Festival Municipal and is being prepared by the organizing committee.
Representatives of the City Hall, through the Secretariat of Rural Development (SDR), Emater, the Union of the Sweets and Canned Food Industry of Pelotas (Sindocopel), the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), Sicredi and the company Plantécnica Soluções Agrícolas formed the jury that chose Mariana and Fernanda among the candidates. The queen was presented with a 32-inch television, offered by Plantécnica, one of the event’s sponsors.
The Peach Fortnight programming is organized by City Hall/SDR, Emater, Embrapa, South Zone Beekeepers and Fruit Growers Cooperative (Cafsul), Pelotas Region Peach Producers Association (APPRP), Sweets and Preserves Industry Union Alimentícias de Pelotas (Sindocopel), Union of Family Farmers Workers of Pelotas and producers.
